Why I am Running for School Board
I am a first generation college graduate, who deeply understands the value of public education. I'm running for school board because I have seen how quality education positively impacts individual kids, their families, and the entire community. Service to public education is where I want to focus my efforts and energy.
I am a mom with 20 years of professional experience in the social service field. Currently I am the Associate Director of Field Education at the KU School of Social Welfare. The bulk of my social work practice has been administrative and advocacy related. What that means is that in addition to working directly with individuals & their families, I am engaged in community outreach including equity and inclusion work; nonprofit budgeting; and agency policy and procedure evaluation. I've developed a diverse combination of skills that will contribute to strengthen the Lawrence School Board.
It would be an honor to serve Lawrence's outstanding public schools.
